As the gateway to New Zealand, Auckland Airport is committed to connecting our country with the world while creating a sustainable legacy and empowering our communities. We are not only enabling the journeys of today – we’re planning ahead and preparing for the world we want to travel tomorrow.
Sustainability is embedded across our business strategy, Building a Better Future. It’s not a separate initiative; it’s a strategic lens that shapes the decisions we make. Our approach is anchored in three principles: Protect Planet, Empower People and Act Consciously. This enables us to take a broad perspective across strategic topics - focussing on areas we can control while leveraging our scale and influence to drive wider change.
We are committed to setting targets, tracking our progress, and maintaining best-practice disclosures, and to engage with stakeholders on what’s important to them.
We are in it for the long haul; building the world we want to travel tomorrow.
Auckland Airport prides itself on transparent reporting to our stakeholders.

We are a proud member of the following organisations and participant in several environmental, social and governance indices:
At Auckland Airport, we maintain the highest levels of professionalism, honesty and integrity in all actions. We engage in sound practices, respect others and welcome our responsibilities. As part of our existing governance structures, we have now formalised policies and processes to ensure rigorous governance of our sustainability strategy and actions. The Board oversees climate-related risks and opportunities, and our sustainability policies are reviewed annually.
Auckland Airport is committed to keeping New Zealanders connected while reducing the impact of our operations on the planet and on people. Every three years we undertake a comprehensive materiality assessment to assess how the activities of our business impact society, the environment, specific stakeholders or finances. In our 2024 materiality assessment, we applied the principles of double materiality and aligned our approach with the Global Reporting Index 2021 Standard and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The materiality assessment involves input from key internal and external stakeholders to identify the sustainability impacts that are most significant for our business. Closely related material impacts are grouped into material topics.
