New Zealand thrives on connection, and Auckland Airport (AKL) is where many of those connections begin. As the gateway to our country and our largest city, and the first welcome for many, we’re not just upgrading an airport. We’re investing in a future-ready Aotearoa.
Right now, we’re undertaking the most ambitious transformation in our history. Projects across terminals, the airfield, and transport networks are coming together to create a smoother, more seamless experience for travellers. With $5.7 billion of aeronautical development planned through to 2032, the vision is for a much-improved airport experience for everyone who travels through AKL or works here, together with robust and resilient infrastructure serving our nation for decades to come.
This is a bold step forward that honours the whenua (the land) of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. It reflects the pride, purpose and progress of New Zealand.
Thank you for your patience as we reimagine our journey. Explore our transformation and see how we’re preparing for the future.

Bring on better journeys.
Bring on stronger connections.
Bring on the world.
Auckland Airport is more than a travel hub. It plays a vital role in New Zealand’s economy, helping drive growth through business, tourism and trade. It’s a key connection point for travellers and a place of business and industry that supports 25,000 jobs.
Auckland Airport’s upgrade includes individual projects across terminals, the airfield, and transport network. Together, they’re reshaping the airport experience for customers and strengthening New Zealand’s connection to the world.
We’re continually planning and investing in projects to make your airport journey smoother and safer, especially as construction progresses across the precinct.
This page will be regularly updated with the latest information on road upgrades, parking changes, and anything to do with transport that may affect your trip to or from the airport.
